the hammok under the old trees was a very inspiring and peaceful spot which we all loved very much!
i think i can say, we all miss our old house! it was a wonderful little paradise, and so close to san francisco ... 20 minutes flying through the hilly area of the northern san francisco bay, then just crossing the mouth of the bay via the golden gate bridge and suddenly one is in the middle of one of the most beautiful cities of the world. the only city which could possibly top san francisco might be fremantle [western australia] or melbourne [victoria], in australia. ;) or aukland in new zealand. i am convinced that AUSTRALIA is the continent of the future, when one thinks about how close it is located
to the asian and indian market , and how much space is left to expand - new cities to build. it could be one fascinating projects for architects and city planner, to design a zero- energy-city totally getting their energy via solar systems and intelligently used building materials, the orientation of the house/rooms, using the position of existing trees on the property, or other natural influences, to reduce the need of energy, in order to live in the house. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_solar_building_design
now some pictures from the actual trip through the states.
at our first night in bakersfield we had the finest sushi ever! ... vegetarian sushi created by our friend laura and her son william. that was our survival dinner because all restaurants had closed already, when we arrived. [u see the small orange pieces next to the beer bottle? one had actually a carved carrot heart on top ;* ... thanks u two!]
this is phelix at the 2nd day ... ah yes, did i mentioned my accident 2 days just before we were supposed to leave lucas valley? i accidentally cut my left thumb tendon through ... with a ceramic knife. so i spent the rest of the evening of a good bye dinner in the emergency room and the next day in the hospital and surgery room. :(
jan could postpone the truck one day, and 2 days later i was sitting in my car, crossing the states from west to east and further up to canada, nova scotia, with phelix as my passenger dog.
here is one of the more welcoming designed picnic places next to the freeway .... i think that were the last palm trees on the trip toward east!
just another mile on the freeway toward east ...
another truck ... cutting through the grass ... in my favourate colour - isn't it beautiful?
i have taken a whole series of trucks and other object passing my car ;)
... and yes i just did it with my thumb in cast. and yes, sometimes women are multitasking ;) if necessary! the objects were just too fascinating ... lol
